It is all too easy for the trials and tribulations that afflict agriculture to wear you down. Last Christmas I was given a book entitled 'Roundabouts of Great Britain' by Kevin Beresford that had arisen from a calendar along similar lines. This little gem set me thinking and after a few false starts I hit upon the idea of a calendar featuring cattle crushes. We all have them but tend to ignore them (until they fail). Some are good, some are bad, some are ugly, some are rusting to bits, others are state of the art. Whatever their status you can guarantee only two things - none will work all the time on all stock and all of them can mash your fingers!
To help users I have put all the bank holidays in so that they will know when the roads will be busy and the stages of the moon as an aid to vermin control. Mother's Day is obviously included as are the times of sunset and sunrise for Westminster , London on Sundays. For those used to more traditional calendars (WI, Pirelli, etc.) there are pictures of females most months and as well as a few well muscled males! |
