Once the cow's identity and calving date are entered the template uses user-defined targets to determine when she is ready to be served (default 40 days after calving) and when vet action is needed (default 60 days). The user can enter a date at the top of the template to set when the next vet's visit is due and then any over due tasks are flagged up with an 'X'

Once a cow is served the dates are entered in the yellow boxs. The program then calculates the likley return date and a PD date (days to PD set to default at 35). Once a cow is pregnant this is entered as a 'Y' and drying off and future calving dates are calculated. Again any over-due events are flagged with an 'X'

| As the fertility events are entered fertility parameters are calculated. These include intervals to first service, intervals between serves, submission rates, 100day pregnancy rates and conception rates (not shown here). The inter-service intervals information is available to construct interval histograms. | ||||
I have also developed a slightly more complex template that allows you to record the date of the first oestrus (where the cow is not served) and also the initials of who inseminated the cow. Please contact me for further information on these templates. |
